As a Senior Data Analyst, you will have a primary focus on SQL query development and data interrogation. In this role, you will analyze large datasets, uncover insights, and work creatively to present data in visually compelling ways. A key responsibility will be leading client discussions and discovery meetings to ensure understanding of client context. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable with complex data patterns, and is deadline driven. Experience in finance or credit card systems, particularly payment fraud, is highly desirable.

This is a remote role and may be seated anywhere in the US, however significant overlap with core hours in the Pacific time zone may be required.
 

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Write, optimize, and manage complex SQL queries across large datasets to extract, analyze, and generate actionable insights. Extensive SQL experience is essential.
  • Use Python scripts, SQL Server Management Studio (or similar) tools to manipulate and extract data for reporting and analysis.
  • Identify trends, anomalies, and patterns in data related to payment systems, credit card transactions, and fraud detection. Translate these patterns into meaningful business insights.
  • Develop creative data visualizations and dashboards to present findings clearly, ensuring data is easy to understand and drives decision-making.
  • Lead client-facing discovery meetings to gather requirements, present insights, and provide recommendations. Maintain excellent communication and foster strong relationships with clients.
  • Manage and respond to client and internal support tickets, ensuring timely resolution and adherence to SLAs.
  • Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and security of data models, reports, and dashboards.

Required skills and abilities:

  • A bachelor’s degree in data sciences, Finance, Computer Science, or related field (master’s preferred or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in data analysis, with a heavy focus on SQL query development.
  • Strong ability to spot anomalies, trends, and patterns in data, turning raw data into actionable insights that drive business decisions.
  • Demonstrated experience creating innovative data visualizations and dashboards, focusing on user experience and clarity.
  • Proven track record of working directly with customers, leading discussions, and translating complex data into clear, business-focused insights.
  • Experience in Python, data management tools (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL), and familiarity with AI programming and machine learning is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred skills and abilities:

  • Experience with machine learning or predictive analytics.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools (Tableau, Power BI).
  • Knowledge of fraud analytics or payment system compliance.
  • Comfort architecting Data Stores.
  • Experience managing azure resources in the cloud.

This role has a starting salary range of $134,348 - $163,900 per year. The full range for this level and function within FiveBy is $104,796 - $163,900 per year. These ranges are applicable for the labor market of the Greater Seattle Area. It is common for FiveBy to start employees below the midpoint of the range. Final base salary is directly related to each candidates' unique qualifications and experience.

FiveBy employees are eligible to participate in FiveBy’s group medical, dental, and vision insurance plans. FiveBy covers 100% of monthly premiums for individual employees – additional qualifying beneficiaries may be added at the expense of the sponsoring employee. FiveBy also provides a 401k with a defined percentage of employer matching, 120 hours of PTO annually (pro rata for hourly employees), and 10 paid holidays per year.

In order to perform this role, the selected employee must be able to operate within a standard office environment, with or without reasonable accommodation. This role requires the ability to stand or sit for long periods of time, communicate with others via speech or text, and use hands or other tools to operate a computer and keyboard. Due to the nature of our work, employees must be able to uphold the stress of traveling to client sites as well as adapt (within reason) to the conditions of client sites. Regular, predictable attendance is required, as is the ability to work outside of standard business hours as business needs dictate.
